Follow our IGF blog

The annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is taking place in Istanbul from 2 to 5 September under the auspices of the United Nations. The event provides a platform for discussion between governments, commercial Internet organizations and civil society members. Its goal is to address and try to solve the issues facing Internet users.
Among these, the one that is dear to our hearts at Reporters Without Borders is freedom of information. We shall be attending the event ourselves in order to ensure that it gets on the agenda.
We invite you to follow our activities on our dedicated blog. On the sidelines of the IGF, we shall be holding a news conference on the state of the Internet in Turkey, we shall be taking part in an alternative forum organized by the Turkish Alternative Informatics Association (Alternatif Bilisim) and we shall be meeting local journalists’ organizations.
The blog is also intended as a place for reflection. We shall use it to post transcriptions of the IGF’s discussions and meetings. We have invited our local representative Erol Önderoglu to write about the state of the Internet in Turkey, and other participants will also be asked to contribute.
We shall do our best to make it as lively and interactive as possible. Catch us in Istanbul.
